Fade-out / Hide-out (lyrics by G. Setzer)

Hey hey hey, we have no face
We’re out of order, we can’t pinpoint
The fade-out hide-out, our missing link
This narrative that won’t be born
No no no, the effect is wrong
How did we drop out, reality?
The sights and sounds we can’t determine
But how can I say this if it sometimes seems…

There is a sign that’s pre-linguistic
You know I can’t see what you see
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
A noise beyond an alphabet
You know I can’t hear what you hear
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
This is an instant non-sequential
You know I can’t feel what you feel
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
When we arrive we can’t determine
Our senses can not speak and spell
[They miss the mark and slip and slide]

Tick tick tick, we can not refuse
This proof of sequence, the frame after frame
We put into practice, the dragging of frames
The idea bends, its moment extends
It’s excavation beneath a structure
But how can I say this if it sometimes seems…

There is a sign that’s pre-linguistic
You know I can’t see what you see
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
A noise beyond an alphabet
You know I can’t hear what you hear
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
This is an instant non-sequential
You know I can’t feel what you feel
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
When we arrive we can’t determine
Our senses cannot speak and spell
They miss the mark and slip and slide

It touches my mouth
It seemingly sinks

You know I can’t see what you see
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
You know I can’t hear what you hear
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
You know I can’t feel what you feel
[you know, you know, you know, you know, you know]
You know, you know
[you know, you know]

Canada's Electric Tiger Machine Bowling Green, Ohio

Canada's Electric Tiger Machine met at Bowling Green State University where, Haehn, Buckholz, and Ranville were art students and Setzer was a Visiting Instructor. Formed in 2003, their live shows were immediately heralded for their high-energy delivery and bizarre stage "happenings." C.E.T.M. disbanded in 2005; with members now in Illinois, Arizona, Ohio, and Michigan, a reunion is unlikely. ... more
